Bend It With Your Right Mouse Button

chief architect Dec 28, 2017

I was watching the news last night, and they were talking about soccer. For some reason, the movie "Bend It Like Beckham" came to mind. You know, the soccer movie. Well, then I got to thinking about how you can bend things in Chief with your right mouse button.

Of course, this is much more exciting for Chief users than the movie. To do it, draw a wall, CAD line, stairway, sidewalk, and molding line in your plan. Then click on them one at a time and grab the end handle with your right mouse button. When you pull the handle, you'll notice the line bends. You are, in effect, turning the line into an arc. It works for all of the items listed above because all of these items originate with a CAD line.

I rarely, if ever, use the Arc tool in Chief. When I need something curved, I just bend it using the right mouse button.

FYI - If you hold the CTRL key down while pulling the end handle with your right mouse button you can bend the items without any snapping. Enjoy this tip. It will save you some time.

PS. If you need stairs to go "down" - draw them using your right mouse button.
